Καλλίςη προπάροιθε, τὸ δὲ ὕςερον οὔνομα θήρη,
Μήτηρ εὐΐππου πατρίδος ἡμετέρης
Pausanias in Laconicis: Τηὸ δὲ ἀπιικίαν ὁ Θήρας ἔςελλεν ἐς τὴν νῆσον τὴν τότε ὀνομαζο μένην Καλλίςην, Coloniam Theras (Thebanus, Autesionis filius, ex Lacedaemoniis et Minyis, quos Pelasgus e Lemno eiecit) deduxit in insulam, quae antea Calliste vocabatur. Factum id aetate unâ ante Ionicam, Ioh. Marshamus Canone Chron. ad Sec. XIII. etc. Ab eo igitur haec insula sic dicta. Ex Therae autem posteris fuit Bartus, qui Cyrenas in Africa condidit.
